Things

1
So on a corner outside of the Public Garden, waiting to cross the street, was a man with a Game Stop bag, a little boy, and a little girl barely any taller than the boy. The man was manish, the little boy was boyish, and as far as I noticed by then, the little girl was girlish. Then after a double-take, I noticed breasts on this little girl. Not just buds, but clearly-defined breasts. After a third take, I confirmed that she wasn't a midget. I wouldn't have thought this girl was older than seven based on her height and frame. I shook my head, dubbed precocious puberty to be awesome, and moved on.

Making my way through the Public Garden, I passed through a bend by the pond densely populated by parents and their children. One little boy was wearing sneakers, jeans, and a blue and yellow striped-shirt just like the one Ness wears. I looked over at the man next to him who was most likely his father. He looked like a slightly younger Peter Jackson. I figured, "This dorky father felt the same way I did about the shirt, and that must be why he bought it."

I walked into the Emerson student union and information center. I wasn't sure what audition I had today, but I was pretty sure it was for the Emerson Comedy Workshop. I asked the dude at the counter if he knew anything about the auditions.
"The Comedy Workshop had their auditions yestarday."
"I'm pretty sure there was another audition today," I said, certain that I was right.
"Well, the improv group is having auditions today."
"That's right, I signed up for those, too."
"Well, they end in ten minutes."
It was 1:50, and my audition was at 1:20.
"Yeah. I definitely missed that."
And so my one chance at belonging somewhere for even a little while was torn away because I got confused.

That'll happen. Just get used to remembering appointments and making lists. They'll be invaluable. Life gets more and more like Memento.
